Opportunity Description

The Contracts Department is seeking a Contracts/Paralegal Intern with a background in

paralegal services, legal administration, contracting, acquisition, procurement, or a related field. This opportunity will provide a transitioning Service Member with hands-on civilian experience in government contracting and contract administration.


The intern will gain exposure to the federal contract lifecycle, contract and subcontract documentation, compliance tracking, FAR/DFARS requirements, and internal contract administration processes. Candidates with military legal, paralegal, contracting, acquisition, or administrative experience are encouraged to apply.


Preferred Background

Relevant experience may include:


  • Military paralegal or legal services

  • Legal or contract administration

  • Government contracting or acquisition

  • Procurement or subcontract administration

  • Regulatory/compliance support

  • Legal or contractual research

  • Records and document management


Experience as a military Paralegal Specialist, Legal Services Specialist, Legalman, contracting professional, acquisition professional, or comparable military specialty is preferred but not

required.


Proposed Intern Responsibilities

Under the supervision and guidance of the Contracts Department, the Intern may:


  • Review and organize contracts, subcontracts, task orders, purchase orders, modifications, amendments, and supporting documentation.

  • Review Statements of Work (SOWs), Performance Work Statements (PWSs), and related documents to identify contractual requirements and obligations.

  • Track key contract dates, deliverables, option periods, modifications, reporting requirements, and administrative deadlines.

  • Maintain organized and accurate contract and subcontract files throughout the contract lifecycle.

  • Assist with contract compliance tracking, documentation, and file audits.

  • Research contractual requirements, regulations, clauses, and administrative matters.

  • Assist with reviewing and tracking applicable FAR and DFARS clauses.

  • Prepare summaries of contract requirements, deadlines, and action items for Contracts personnel.

  • Support document control and version management and identify missing documentation requiring follow-up.

  • Assist with NDAs, teaming agreements, subcontract documentation, and other agreements as appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain contract trackers, templates, checklists, and internal reference materials.

  • Participate in Contracts meetings and cross-functional discussions to gain practical exposure to government contracting operations.


The intern will provide administrative, research, and contract support under appropriate

supervision and will not provide independent legal advice or perform functions requiring licensed legal counsel.



Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in paralegal services, legal administration, contracts, acquisition, procurement, or a comparable military field.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Ability to review complex documents and identify requirements, deadlines, discrepancies, and action items.

  • Experience maintaining legal, contract, administrative, or other formal records.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate documentation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and related applications.

  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.


Preferred but not required: Familiarity with federal government contracting, FAR/DFARS,

SOWs/PWSs, task orders, contract modifications, government acquisition, or subcontract

administration.



Training & Development Focus

The Intern participant will receive practical training and exposure in:


  • Federal contract administration and lifecycle management

  • Contract and subcontract documentation

  • FAR and DFARS requirements

  • Contract compliance and requirement analysis

  • Contract file and records management

  • Government contracting terminology

  • Internal contract review and approval processes

  • Cross-functional coordination with Contracts, Finance, Business Development, Recruiting, and other departments


Business Need

A Contracts / Paralegal Intern will provide additional support with contract research,

documentation, requirement tracking, file organization, and administrative contract activities, while providing a transitioning Service Member with meaningful civilian training and professional development.


Military paralegal, legal-administration, contracting, and acquisition experience is particularly transferable to contract administration because of the emphasis on document review, research, regulatory requirements, records management, deadline tracking, attention to detail, and handling sensitive information.
