Are we required to hire the SkillBridge participant?
No. If the participant is not the right fit or your business needs change, you are not required to offer them a full-time position when their SkillBridge program ends.
Can we hire the participant as a contractor through KYO?
Absolutely. After the SkillBridge program ends, KYO can support your staff-augmentation needs by hiring the participant and managing them as a contractor assigned to your company.
Can SkillBridge participants receive pay?
SkillBridge participants continue to receive their regular Department of Defense pay and benefits during the program. They may not receive additional wages or compensation from the partner company while participating in SkillBridge.
How does business travel work?
A SkillBridge participant may travel when travel is a legitimate requirement of the role and the company would cover the same expenses for other employees in a comparable position. Travel cannot be provided as a gift or special benefit.
What support does KYO provide?
KYO manages all required SkillBridge paperwork and Department of Defense reporting. We also provide participants with industry training, mentorship, military-to-civilian transition support, and ongoing career guidance throughout the program.
How many hours can a participant work each week?
A SkillBridge participant may work with the partner company for up to 35 hours per week. They also complete five hours of training with KYO each week.
What happens if a participant is not the right fit?
KYO will transition the service member back into our program and help identify a more suitable opportunity for them. We will also work with your team to better understand your needs and identify candidates who may be a stronger fit.
What does the SkillBridge partnership cost?
KYO’s partnership pricing is based on the number of participants: $3,500 per month for 1–3 participants, $7,000 per month for 4–7 participants, and $10,000 per month for 8–10 participants. Billing begins only after an accepted participant starts with your team.
Does KYO charge a conversion fee?
No. KYO does not charge a conversion fee if you decide to hire the participant after the SkillBridge program.
