Opportunity Description

Position Summary 

This position offers hands-on experience in payroll and accounting operations, including timesheet administration, billing support, and accounts payable processing. It is ideal for a motivated individual seeking to build foundational finance or accounting skills while supporting essential financial workflows and maintaining accurate internal records.


Assists with the following:

  • Payroll:

    • Payroll/timesheet system setup for employees

    • Payroll/timesheet system password resets

    • Reporting delinquent timesheets to supervisors (each pay period)

    • Calculating vacation payouts for terminated employees

    • Calculating prorated holiday hours for part time employees

    • Updating internal payroll notes with Employee Change Notices (terminations, new hires, status changes)


  • Billing/Accounts Receivable (AR):

    • Preparing bills for Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contracts and submitting to customers monthly

    • Updating the internal backlog file with all project billed revenue amounts (monthly)


  • Accounts Payable (AP):

    • Verifying addresses during weekly check run

    • Entering AP bills

      • Bills from vendors

      • HSA

      • 401k

    • Credit Cards: Preparing Expense Reports, collecting receipts, and compiling relevant transaction information from cardholders


Skills


  • Required:

    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

    • Effective professional communication, both verbal and written

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel)

    • Discretion regarding sensitive financial information

    • Ability to work as part of a team, multitask, and analyze information to draw a conclusion

    • Motivated to learn and has a desire to take on new challenges


  • Preferred:

    • Pursuing or holds bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field

    • Work experience: 1-2 years of experience in bookkeeping or customer service

    • Advanced experience in Excel

    • Basic understanding of accounting principles
